What does TanLab review?
TanLab reviews consumer gadgets and everyday-carry gear: smartphones, cameras and lenses, drones and gimbals, flashlights and headlamps, pocket knives and multitools, hand tools, precision scissors, smartwatches and audio gear. If it can be measured, carried and used daily, it can go on the bench.
How does TanLab score a product?
Every product runs the same six-stage process — unbox, real usage, measured performance, stress test, head-to-head comparison, verdict. Category scores are averaged into a single TanLab Score out of 100.
The weighting for each category is published on the How We Test page, so you can see exactly why a product landed where it did — and disagree with the weighting if you want to.
Does TanLab accept payment for reviews?
No. Scores are never for sale. Brands can send a unit for testing, but they get no review copy approval, no score preview and no veto over the verdict. Any unit that was supplied by a brand is disclosed on screen in the video and in the written review.
Where do the test products come from?
Most units are bought at retail like any other customer. Some are loaned by brands or distributors and returned after testing. Whichever it is, the source is stated in the review so you can weigh it yourself. Full details are in the disclosure policy.
How long does TanLab test a product before reviewing it?
A minimum of fourteen days of real use for anything you carry or rely on daily — phones, flashlights, knives, wearables. Long-term follow-ups are published after three to six months, because a lot of gear only shows its weaknesses after the honeymoon period.
Does TanLab use affiliate links?
Where affiliate links are used they are labelled, and they never change a score or a ranking. A product that loses a comparison stays lost regardless of which link earns a commission. See the disclosure page for the full policy.
How can I request a review or send a product?
Send the product details through the contact page or message the TanLab Facebook page. Requests are queued by how useful the test would be to viewers, not by who asked first — and sending a unit never guarantees coverage.
